HD Hyundai strengthens partnership to develop shipbuilding supply chain in Jubail

HD Hyundai will expand its shipbuilding cooperation with Saudi Arabia following talks between Executive Vice Chairman Chung Kisun and Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih. The discussions focused on advancing the joint shipyard and engine plant under construction in Al Jubail, as well as developing a local shipbuilding supply chain.

A shipbuilding and marine equipment roundtable was also held to explore further collaboration. Saudi Arabia, as part of its Vision 2030 strategy, is seeking to build a competitive shipbuilding industry and attract investment from Korean firms.

HD Hyundai is currently building the IMI Shipyard and Makeen engine manufacturing company at the King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries, scheduled to begin full operations in 2026 and 2027. Once complete, the facilities will feature three large docks, four Goliath cranes, and seven berths, with capacity to build up to 40 vessels annually.
