DGTR launches AD probe into stainless steel imports from China, Indonesia, and Vietnam

India has initiated an antidumping investigation into imports of cold-rolled stainless steel products of the 300 and 400 series from China, Indonesia, and Vietnam, according to a notification from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

The probe follows a complaint by the Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) on behalf of domestic producers, alleging significant injury to India’s stainless steel industry from large volumes of low-priced imports.

The DGTR will assess whether dumping exists, the extent of such practices, and their impact on domestic manufacturers. If proven, it may recommend duties on the affected products, subject to approval by the Ministry of Finance.

    The investigation covers products under HS codes 721990, 721911, 721912, 721913, 721914, 721921, 721922, 721923, 721924, 721931, 721932, 721933, 721934, 721935, 721990, 722011, 722012, 722020, 722090.

The dumping period under review is April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, while injury assessment spans 2021-22 to the current investigation period.
