Jindal Stainless has renewed and expanded its partnership with Harsco Environmental through a 15-year, USD 150 mln agreement to process stainless steel slag at its Jajpur plant in Odisha.
The deal includes a 10-year extension of the existing contract and the construction of a new wet milling plant, the only facility of its kind in India, which Harsco will operate to recover metals and manage waste from slag.
Jindal Stainless Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said the company’s expansion aims to meet rising stainless steel demand while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and circularity.
As India’s largest stainless steel producer, Jindal Stainless is expanding its annual melt capacity to 4.2 mln tons by FY27. The company operates 16 manufacturing and processing facilities across India, Spain, and Indonesia, along with a global network spanning 12 countries. Its product portfolio includes slabs, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, blade steel, and coin blanks.
