Turkish steel producer Kardemir has signed new rail supply agreements worth EUR 14.5 mln (USD 16.8 mln), including VAT, for domestic railway projects, the company said in a stock exchange filing.
As Turkey’s only rail producer, Kardemir continues to play a key role in the country’s railway infrastructure development. The company manufactures rails up to 72 meters in length meeting international standards and also produces 200,000 railway wheels annually for light rail systems, freight, and passenger locomotives.
Founded in 1937, Kardemir operates from Karabuk with an annual production capacity of 3.5 mln tons, producing blooms, billets, rebars, profiles, and other steel products.
