Thyssenkrupp confirmed that a fire incident disrupted operations at its hot strip mill in the Bruckhausen area of its Duisburg steel site on October 24, 2025. The blaze has since been brought under control, with the professional fire department leaving the scene while the company’s plant fire brigade remains on-site for monitoring.
No injuries were reported, and the company stated that all relevant authorities have been informed. According to local media, operations at the affected plant have been temporarily halted.
The incident occurred only months after Thyssenkrupp completed a major modernization at the Duisburg site, which included a new continuous casting line, upgraded hot strip mill facilities with new walking beam furnaces, and fully automated slab logistics.
