Nippon Steel to consolidate forged product operations under Sanyo Special Steel

Nippon Steel Corporation and its subsidiary Sanyo Special Steel Co. will consolidate the production of steel and free forged products from the Osaka Area of Kansai Works into Sanyo Special Steel, the companies announced. Equipment at the Osaka site will either be transferred to Sanyo Special Steel or suspended.

The move follows Nippon Steel’s full acquisition of Sanyo Special Steel in April 2025, aimed at strengthening group competitiveness and enabling more flexible management. By unifying similar production lines, the company seeks to enhance cost efficiency and manufacturing capabilities across the group.

Both companies will also pursue broader synergies, including optimized production systems, joint sales expansion, technological collaboration, global strategy enhancement, and improved raw material procurement.

The consolidation is expected to be completed by the first half of FY2030, with related equipment suspensions planned by Q3 FY2028.
