EMSTEEL Group, one of the region’s largest listed steel and building materials manufacturers, has successfully piloted a private 5G network in collaboration with e& UAE, the telecom arm of global technology group e&.
The initiative marks a major milestone in EMSTEEL’s Industry 4.0 transformation, aligned with the UAE’s Operation 300bn strategy, enhancing efficiency, safety, and sustainability across its production facilities.
The advanced 5G network delivers high-speed, reliable connectivity throughout EMSTEEL’s complex industrial sites while keeping all data secure within on-premises infrastructure. It supports the integration of advanced digital systems, including EMSTEEL’s Asset Insight platform.
The first live application, Asset Insight, enables workers to access real-time asset data, maintenance history, and sensor readings by scanning equipment QR codes. It also allows instant maintenance requests, reducing downtime and improving safety and performance.
The successful pilot underscores EMSTEEL’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies that strengthen its position as a global leader in low-carbon steel and sustainable building materials, extending digital innovation across operations, safety, sustainability, and customer experience.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, EMSTEEL has a production capacity of 3.5 mln tons of steel and 4.6 mln tons of cement annually. The group exports to over 70 markets, accounting for 30pct of its sales.
