Scrap import prices steady amid cautious buying

Turkey’s imported scrap prices held steady this week at USD 350-355 per ton CFR, unchanged from last week, as mills continued booking cargoes to replenish inventories.

Market participants noted that more bookings are expected, but many suppliers are pushing for higher prices, citing rising freight costs and tighter winter scrap availability.

Turkish mills, however, remain reluctant to raise bids due to subdued sales, particularly in export markets. Demand from the EU remains weak amid uncertainty over upcoming CBAM implementation.

Rebar export offers were largely stable at USD 550-555 per ton FOB, while wire rod was quoted at USD 560-565 per ton FOB.
