The Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed) has received ECAS and Emirates Quality Mark (EQM) approval, certified by CARES, for its rebar products, authorizing the company to supply BS 4449:2005+A3:2016 grade B500B rebar in sizes 12-40 mm. The certifications were issued on November 13, 2025, and are valid for three years.
This follows similar approvals obtained earlier by another Saudi producer, Al Ittefaq Steel, which is certified to supply B500B rebar in diameters of 10-50 mm to the UAE. Its billet unit, National Steel Company (NASCO), has also been certified to supply billets to the UAE market.
The UAE’s Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) is a mandatory certification for construction steel products, ensuring compliance with national safety, quality, and environmental standards. Products must undergo rigorous assessment, carry the ECAS mark and documentation, and include a digital identification tag for traceability, helping protect consumers, prevent counterfeits, and maintain a transparent supply chain.
Hadeed is the GCC’s major steel producer with an annual capacity of 3.8 mln tons of long products and 2.2 mln tons of flat products. The company was acquired by the Public Investment Fund in May 2024.
