Crude steel production in the Middle East rose 2.8pct YoY to 46.1 mln tons in the first ten months of 2025, according to the World Steel Association. In October alone, the region’s output increased 9.2pct YoY to 5.4 mln tons. The figures cover Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Yemen.
In Africa, crude steel production grew 3.8pct YoY to 19.3 mln tons during January-October. October output in the region edged up 0.8pct YoY to 2 mln tons, with data covering Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and South Africa.
Turkey, the world’s seventh-largest steel producer, recorded output of 31.3 mln tons in the first ten months, up 1.2pct YoY, while October production rose 3.1pct YoY to 3.2 mln tons.
Iran, ranked tenth globally, saw crude steel production fall 1pct YoY to 25.4 mln tons in January-October. However, its October output increased 12pct YoY to 3.3 mln tons.
On a global scale, crude steel production declined 2.1pct YoY to 1.51 bln tons in the first ten months of 2025. October output also dropped nearly 6pct to 143.3 mln tons.
China, the world’s largest producer, recorded a 3.9pct decline to 817.9 mln tons in January-October, with October output down 12.1pct to 72 mln tons.
India maintained strong growth, producing 136 mln tons in the first ten months, up 10pct YoY, while October production increased 5.9pct YoY to 13.6 mln tons.
In the United States, crude steel output rose 2.8pct YoY to 68.4 mln tons during January-October. October production increased 9.4pct YoY to 7 mln tons.
Japan’s crude steel production declined 4.1pct YoY to 67.3 mln tons in the first ten months, with October output down 1pct YoY to 6.9 mln tons.
