Konepeikko Oy, a major Finnish recycling services provider, has installed a new state-of-the-art torch-cutting machine from Primetals Technologies at its facility near Ovako Imatra Oy Ab in Imatra, Finland. The environmentally friendly system represents the latest in Primetals’ scrap-cutting technology and has already delivered significant noise-reduction benefits.
The new equipment has enhanced operational efficiency and operator safety. A high-performance dedusting system keeps emissions well below regulatory limits, while a movable, enclosed cabin further lowers noise levels, helping Konepeikko meet Finland’s stringent environmental requirements. Operators manage the machine remotely using a video-supported control desk, with recipe-based cutting programs streamlining processing.
Capable of handling billets, blooms, bundles of rolled bars, and tough high-alloy materials such as tundish skulls and mill rolls, with support from iron-powder cutting, the machine significantly broadens Konepeikko’s processing capabilities. The company processes more than 50,000 tons of recycled materials each year and also handles demolition-related construction waste.
