Hydnum Steel, Southern Europe’s first clean steel plant, and Thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe, a leader in steel and aluminum processing, are teaming up to advance the decarbonisation of the steel industry.
Hydnum Steel is building an innovative flat steel plant in Puertollano, Spain, positioning itself as one of Europe’s top clean steel producers.
Under a strategic agreement, Hydnum Steel will supply Thyssenkrupp Materials Processing with up to 100,000 tons of decarbonised flat steel annually for an initial seven-year period, starting when the plant begins operations. This partnership reflects the growing demand for low-impact steel and solidifies both companies as sustainability and technology leaders.
Thyssenkrupp Materials Processing, with its extensive processing facilities and distribution centres across Europe, serves industries including automotive, construction, and household appliances. This agreement enables the company to expand its environmentally friendly product range and meet the rising demand for sustainable solutions. Part of Thyssenkrupp Materials Services, it is one of the world’s leading mill-independent materials distributors.
The agreement also covers joint efforts to develop low-impact logistics solutions, optimise deliveries, and reduce emissions. Additionally, both companies will explore innovative business models and tailored processing strategies to enhance product value for customers.
