Turkey imported approximately 2 mln tons of iron ore in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 17pct decline compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Brazil remained Turkey’s top supplier, shipping around 1.4 mln tons. Sweden followed with 331,000 tons, and Uzbekistan supplied 173,000 tons.
In March 2025 alone, iron ore imports surged to roughly 951,000 tons, up 11pct compared to March 2024 and a sharp 177pct increase from February 2025.
