Tata Steel reported crude steel production in India of 5.82 mln tons during the April-June (Q1 FY2027) period, up 11pct YoY from 5.23 mln tons, driven by higher output at its Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar plants.
Steel deliveries in India increased 9pct YoY to 5.17 mln tons, compared with 4.75 mln tons in the corresponding period last year, supported by a stronger product mix and steady domestic demand. The company reported record first-quarter volumes in its Automotive & Special Products, Branded Products & Retail, Tubes and Tinplate businesses. Deliveries of high-end automotive products increased following the continued ramp-up of the Continuous Annealing and Galvanising (CGL) lines at Kalinganagar, while Tata Tiscon and Tata Steelium recorded strong sales growth.
In Europe, Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.55 mln tons of liquid steel during the quarter, down 9pct from 1.70 mln tons a year earlier, while deliveries declined 7pct to 1.40 mln tons from 1.50 mln tons. The company said operations were partly affected by the temporary shutdown of the Direct Sheet Plant in April, with trial runs currently underway ahead of a full restart.
Tata Steel UK delivered 0.48 mln tons, down 20pct from 0.60 mln tons in Q1 FY2026, as the company continued supplying customers through downstream processing of purchased substrate while progressing with the installation of its 3 mln ton-per-year electric arc furnace (EAF) at Port Talbot.
Meanwhile, Tata Steel Thailand reported stable saleable steel production of 0.33 mln tons, unchanged from a year earlier, while deliveries edged down to 0.33 mln tons from 0.34 mln tons.
Tata Steel, part of the Tata Group, is one of the world’s leading steel producers with operations in India, the Netherlands, the UK and Thailand. The company has an annual consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.9 mln tons and plans to increase it to 51.5 mln tons per year by FY2030-31
