APT Global plans to invest around AED 50 mln (USD 13.6 mln) to develop a 700,000-sq-ft fabrication facility at RAK Maritime City, significantly expanding fabrication-led capabilities linked to RAK Ports under the Saqr 2.0 initiative.
The new unit will increase APT Global’s total footprint in Ras Al Khaimah to approximately 2.0 mln sq ft and support diversification into offshore fabrication, renewables, shipbuilding, and oil & gas construction, with a strong export focus on Europe, the United States and Far East Asia.
Located within RAK Maritime City Free Zone, the facility will benefit from direct deepwater berth access, quayside-adjacent assembly, and dedicated logistics corridors, enabling efficient fabrication and export of oversized and out-of-gauge steel structures. These features position the project as a key addition to the region’s heavy fabrication and project cargo ecosystem.
The expansion will leverage Saqr 2.0 infrastructure, including a 14-metre draft, access to nearly 65 mln sq ft of free zone land within a 4-km radius, 50-metre-wide road corridors, and assembly pads within 500 metres of the quay, supporting last-mile assembly and direct shipment of large fabricated components.
Saqr 2.0 is a deep-water port development programme by RAK Ports aimed at positioning Ras Al Khaimah as a regional hub for project cargo, liquid bulk and advanced maritime industries.
APT Global operates multiple fabrication and engineering yards across the UAE, Qatar and India, with the UAE serving as its core base for heavy offshore fabrication and shipyard operations.
