Turkey imported 12.7 mln tons of steel scrap during January-August 2026, up 4pct YoY, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The United States remained Turkey’s largest scrap supplier during the period, with shipments totaling 2.48 mln tons, followed by the United Kingdom at 1.5 mln tons and the Netherlands at 1.45 mln tons.
In August, Turkey imported 1.4 mln tons of scrap, nearly unchanged from a year earlier but down 15.7pct month-on-month.
