JSW Steel’s output grew 7 pct in May 2023 YoY

India’s JSW steel reported its consolidated crude steel production increased by 7 pct YoY to 2.178 mln tons in May 2023,

Within this production figure, the company’s Indian operations contributed 2.093 mln tons, reflecting a 6pct growth compared to 1.982 mln tons produced a year ago. Furthermore, JSW Steel’s USA operations, specifically its Ohio plant, witnessed a substantial increase from 48,000 tons in May 2022 to 85,000 tons in May 2023.

JSW Steel’s subsidiary, JSW Ispat Special Products, also demonstrated growth, producing 53,000 tons compared to the previous year’s 41,000 tons.

JSW Steel serves as the flagship business of the diversified JSW Group, which has diverse interests in energy, infrastructure, cement, paints, sports, and venture capital. Over the past three decades, JSW Steel has evolved from a single manufacturing unit to become India’s leading integrated steel company, with a combined capacity of 28.5 mln tons per annum in India and the USA (including capacities under joint control).

As part of its future growth plans in India, JSW Steel aims to increase its total capacity to 38.5 mln tons per annum by FY25.
