Thyssenkrupp Steel, TSR Group sign long-term recycled raw material supply deal

Thyssenkrupp Steel has signed a long-term supply agreement with ferrous and non-ferrous metal recycler TSR Group for the delivery of TSR40, an innovative recycled raw material.

TSR40 is produced exclusively from post-consumer scrap, including end-of-life vehicles and mixed scrap.

TSR has been manufacturing the product at industrial scale at its Duisburg recycling plant since 2023, with additional production launched in Hamburg and Amsterdam from 2024.

Thanks to TSR’s guaranteed material specifications, TSR40 can be used directly in Thyssenkrupp Steel’s blast furnace operations, helping reduce CO2 emissions. The material forms the basis of Bluemint recycled, Thyssenkrupp Steel’s low-carbon flat steel product range.

Flat steel produced under the Bluemint recycled label is suitable for all standard applications, including automotive, packaging, household appliances, transformers, wind turbines, and electromobility. Aside from its lower specific CO2 footprint, the material’s technical properties are equivalent to those of conventionally produced steel grades.
