Saudi Arabia’s Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has announced Package 3 of the Riyadh Main and Ring Road Axes Development Program, covering six major road and traffic projects with a combined budget exceeding SAR 8 bln (USD 2.13 bln). The package forms part of RCRC’s broader plan to expand transport infrastructure, improve connectivity across the capital, and support sustainable mobility in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Scheduled for completion within three to four years, Package 3 includes upgrades to key corridors such as Jeddah Road (29 km), Taif Road (15 km), Thumamah Road’s eastern section (8 km), and northern sections of King Abdulaziz Road (4.7 km) and Othman bin Affan Road (4.3 km).
Collectively, the projects involve the construction of numerous bridges and tunnels, significantly increasing traffic capacity across northern, western, southern, and eastern Riyadh. The package also includes Phase II of engineering enhancements at eight congested locations, aimed at boosting intersection capacity by 40-60pct.
