Ministry seeks to accelerate green steel localization with China’s Tsingshan Group

Oman is moving to strengthen industrial cooperation with China’s Tsingshan Group as part of efforts to localize green steel production and develop downstream industries under its Industrial Strategy 2040, according to local media reports.

A delegation led by Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, recently visited Tsingshan’s industrial facilities in China to advance a cooperation agreement signed in October 2025. The discussions focused on accelerating Oman’s first integrated green steel project.

Talks with Tsingshan’s senior management also covered plans for an integrated industrial city in Oman, with emphasis on project timelines and the efficient export of steel and related products to international markets.

Officials said the partnership supports the transfer and localization of advanced technologies in green steel and energy storage, combining Oman’s green hydrogen potential with advanced manufacturing systems to produce higher-value iron and steel derivatives.
