Brazilian miner Vale SA reported its highest annual iron ore output since 2018, exceeding its production guidance for 2025.
Vale’s iron ore production rose 2.6pct YoY to 336 mln tons in 2025, above its guidance range of 325-335 mln tons. Iron ore sales also increased, climbing 2.5pct YoY to 314.3 mln tons.
Fourth-quarter output reached 90.4 mln tons, up 6pct YoY, supported by strong performance at the Brucutu mine and the continued ramp-up of the Capanema and VGR1 projects. Q4 iron ore sales rose 5pct YoY to 84.9 mln tons.
Looking ahead, Vale expects iron ore production of 335-345 mln tons this year. Vale is one of the world’s largest mining companies and the leading global producer of iron ore and pellets, with additional operations in base metals including nickel and copper.
