Turkey imported 18.7 mln tons of ferrous scrap in 2025, marking a 6.5pct YoY decline, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The United States remained Turkey’s largest scrap supplier, delivering 3.6 mln tons during the year. It was followed by the Netherlands with 2.76 mln tons, the United Kingdom at 2 mln tons, Belgium with 1.3 mln tons, and Romania at around 1 mln tons.
In December 2025, Turkey’s scrap imports declined by about 6.5pct YoY to 1.74 mln tons and were marginally lower, down 0.5pct, compared with the previous month.
