Jairaj Group has recorded record operating performance at its Kurnool plant in India, where the Danieli-supplied MIDA QLP line has exceeded its nameplate design parameters.
The project marks the first MIDA installation in India. The plant configuration includes a blast furnace in the melting area, with Danieli supplying the ladle furnace, continuous casting and rolling equipment, incorporating direct rolling and a bundling finishing facility.
The MIDA QLP line is designed to produce 350,000 tons per year of rebars in bundles, covering diameters from 8 to 40 mm. Full-stream production began in May 2025, followed by steady gains in stability and productivity during ramp-up.
A key milestone was achieved in January 2026, when the plant completed a 27-hour uninterrupted casting and rolling sequence using a single tundish, casting and rolling 33 heats in endless mode. During the run, a 10,206-m billet was produced at a maximum casting speed of 7.2 m/min, surpassing original design performance.
The Jairaj Kurnool plant is an integrated steel facility producing billet, sponge iron and rebar.
