Vraj Iron and Steel to set up new rebar mill at Bilaspur unit

India’s Vraj Iron and Steel Limited has approved plans to establish a new rolling mill at its Bilaspur unit for the production of TMT bars, with an installed capacity of 150,000 tons per annum, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The proposal was approved by the board of directors at a meeting held on February 24, 2026. The project is scheduled for implementation in the 2026-27 financial year and will involve an estimated investment of INR 35 crore (USD 3.85 mln), excluding applicable GST. The total project cost may vary by up to 15pct.

According to the company, the expansion is expected to support revenue growth and profitability while strengthening its presence in the long steel products segment.

Vraj Iron and Steel currently operates a rebar facility in Raipur with an installed capacity of 54,000 tons per year. The proposed Bilaspur mill is intended to enhance finished steel output, improve operational efficiency, and reinforce the company’s position in the rebar market.

Incorporated in 2004 and headquartered in Raipur, Vraj Iron and Steel operates manufacturing units in Raipur and Bilaspur and is a subsidiary of Gopal Sponge and Power Private Limited. The company produces sponge iron, billets, and rebar.
