Turkey imported 1.7 mln tons of ferrous scrap in January 2026, down 13pct YoY, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Imports also declined 2.3pct compared with the previous month.
The United States remained Turkey’s largest scrap supplier, shipping 358,200 tons during the month. The Netherlands followed with 220,900 tons, while the United Kingdom supplied 155,900 tons.
In 2025, Turkey imported 18.7 mln tons of ferrous scrap, marking a 6.5pct YoY decline.
