EMSTEEL sheet piles used in UK quay wall project

EMSTEEL, the UAE’s largest steel and building materials producer, supplied GreenSheetPile Z-section sheet piles for a new quay wall project at Weymouth Harbour in the UK. Installation is being carried out by Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd, appointed by contractor Knights Brown to deliver the marine works.

The project forms part of the Peninsula Harbour Walls repair and replacement programme, aimed at addressing deteriorating harbour structures and improving long-term resilience to rising sea levels while supporting future development and public access in the area.

The scheme includes the supply and installation of approximately 475 linear metres of GreenSheetPile Z sections, together with a tie-bar anchorage system and twin channel waling beams to provide structural support for the new quay wall.

Installation works are being carried out using specialized piling equipment, including a long-reach leader rig fitted with a vibratory piling hammer, supported by a 50-ton crawler crane, enabling efficient installation within the harbour environment.

GreenSheetPile is a low-carbon steel sheet pile product manufactured by EMSTEEL and supplied in the UK and Ireland exclusively by Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd. The product is designed to meet strict environmental targets and features a significantly lower carbon footprint compared with conventional steel sheet piles.

Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, EMSTEEL has an annual production capacity of 3.5 mln tons of steel and 4.6 mln tons of cement. Its steel segment, Emirates Steel, produces wire rod, rebar, heavy sections and sheet piles.
