South Korean special steelmaker SeAH Besteel has developed and commercialized a special steel material for flexsplines, critical components of robotic reducers that transmit motor power and enable precise movement.
The company said its proprietary alloy design addresses shape deformation caused by thermal stress during heat treatment, helping improve machinability and dimensional precision. The material also features ultra-clean steel characteristics achieved through vacuum degassing to reduce non-metallic inclusions and improve fatigue performance.
SeAH Besteel initially supplied the material to Korean precision reducer manufacturer SPG in February, with the product subsequently entering mass production. The company said it is expanding applications for the material and plans to develop additional special steel grades for humanoid robots.
SeAH Besteel is a major South Korean special steel producer supplying materials for automotive, machinery and construction equipment applications, as well as nuclear energy and offshore wind projects.
