    Vraj Iron and Steel commences sponge iron plant operations in Chhattisgarh

    India’s Vraj Iron and Steel has successfully begun commercial operations of its sponge iron plant on December 23, 2024. The plant is part of an expansion project located in Dighoia, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.

    The company also announced that the commissioning of its power plant equipment is underway. It expects to achieve commercial production at the power plant by the next quarter.

    Vraj Iron and Steel Limited, formerly known as Phil Ispat Pvt. Ltd., is a subsidiary of Gopal Sponge and Power Private Limited (GSPPL) Raipur, with interests in steel and power. The company operates two manufacturing units in Raipur and Bilaspur, producing sponge iron, billets, and rebar, with a consolidated installed capacity of 231,600 tons per annum.
