Drydocks World opens new facility to boost fabrication capacity

Drydocks World has inaugurated its South Yard expansion, a 75,000 sqm advanced facility aimed at boosting fabrication capacity and strengthening its position in marine and offshore wind energy projects.

The expansion increases fabrication capacity by 40pct and yard capacity by 25pct, enabling the execution of multiple large-scale projects. It features the Middle East and Africa’s largest load-out jetty, capable of handling structures up to 37,000 tons.

Equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including robotic profile-cutting machines, CNC systems, and heavy-duty rolling equipment, the facility enhances precision and efficiency. Designed to accommodate 3,000 workers daily, it supports complex industrial projects such as FPSO vessel conversions, offshore platform topsides, and HVDC/HVAC converter platforms for offshore wind energy. By 2026, the yard’s capabilities will be further bolstered with the addition of a 5,000-ton sheerleg floating crane.
