Australian miner Fortescue announced a 1pct YoY increase in iron ore shipments for the December quarter, reaching a total of 49.4 mln tons. This contributed to a record 97.1 mln tons in total shipments for H1 FY25, marking a 3pct YoY increase and the highest half-year shipment volume in the company’s history.
Despite facing challenges from wet weather in the Pilbara region, Fortescue successfully managed operations with the help of healthy inventory levels throughout the supply chain.
Fortescue also reported that its total ore mined for Q2 FY25 was 61.9 mln tons, a 12pct increase compared to the same period last year.
The company has maintained its full-year shipment forecast between 190 mln and 200 mln tons.
