Turkey’s imported scrap prices edged higher this week, rising to USD 355-360 per ton CFR from around USD 355 last week, supported by a pickup in domestic rebar demand.
Kardemir’s strong rebar sales in its latest domestic allocation further reflected improving market sentiment. Scrap suppliers also kept offers firm due to higher freight costs and tighter winter scrap availability.
On the export side, however, Turkish finished steel sales remained sluggish as weak global demand and the exhaustion of EU quotas limited opportunities for mills.
Higher scrap costs pushed export offer prices up by USD 10 per ton week-on-week, with Turkish rebar now offered at USD 560-565 per ton FOB and wire rod at USD 570-575 per ton FOB.
