Steel exports rise in Nov 2025

China’s finished steel exports rose 7.5pct YoY to 9.98 mln tons in November, also up 2pct from the previous month, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. With shipments reaching 107.7 mln tons in January-November, exports are on track to surpass the all-time annual record of 112.4 mln tons set in 2015.

Steel imports, however, continued to decline. China brought in 5.54 mln tons of steel in the first 11 months of 2025, down 10.5pct YoY, including 49,600 tons in November, a 5.5pct annual drop.

Iron ore imports remained strong for a sixth consecutive month in November, totaling 110.54 mln tons, an 8.5pct increase YoY despite a slight 0.7pct pullback from October. From January to November, iron ore imports reached 1.139 bln tons, up 1.4pct compared with last year.
