Turkey’s imported scrap prices held steady this week at USD 360-370 per ton CFR, with buying activity slowing as steel mills pause to assess market conditions before resuming procurement.
Suppliers maintained firm offer levels, citing higher winter collection costs and limited material availability. Turkish mills, however, are waiting for signs of improvement in domestic finished steel sales, which typically soften during the winter and holiday period. Weak export demand for Turkish finished steel has also contributed to the cautious stance, though market insiders note that mills will need to restock soon, suggesting buying may pick up in the near term.
Long steel export offers from Turkey were unchanged, with rebar priced at USD 565-570 per ton FOB and wire rod at USD 575-580 per ton FOB.
