Saipem, in partnership with Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd. (COOEC), has been awarded an offshore EPCI contract by QatarEnergy LNG for the COMP5 package of the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) Offshore Compression Complexes project. The total contract value is about USD 4 bln, with Saipem’s share amounting to approximately USD 3.1 bln.
The NFPS project supports QatarEnergy LNG’s strategy to sustain and enhance production at the North Field, the world’s largest non-associated natural gas field, located off Qatar’s northeastern coast.
The roughly five-year contract covers engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation of two offshore compression complexes, each comprising a compression platform, living quarters, a flare platform, and connecting bridges. Each complex will weigh around 68,000 tons, with offshore installation scheduled for 2029-2030 using Saipem’s Heerema Saipem 7000-class construction vessel De He.
